The novella’s rich language, true-to-life characters, setting so alive you can feel it on your skin (even the fantasy parts) and a plot that drags your legs out from under you as a reader, keeps the pages turning far too quickly…then it’s over.
Le sigh. Satisfaction.
This story of a teenaged boy walking into the woods behind the house he shares with his divorced father will haunt even after the cover is closed.
I found Robert Wiersema’s writing more compelling and tighter than in his debut novel Before I Wake. All in all, well worth the time!
